Sunit Parekh
founder, creative director, vfx supervisor
Sunit Parekh is the founder of Hydralab. He also happens to be its creative director and vfx supervisor.
Sunit's work has spanned more than fifteen years and three continents in film, high-end vfx, animation, interactive media, software and hardware product development. He has worked through the trenches and at management level, and for the last few years, has been building the infrastructure and creative process for Hydralab.
Hydralab is a new breed of studio: small, agile, versatile, digging deep into diverse disciplines and delivering high-end results. Among its projects, it has produced nationally funded animation films, delivered high-budget vfx to leading agencies, built motion control systems for Oscar nominated films, and written production-critical software for multiple large production studios.
Sunit is active as a speaker and visual consultant, where his clients include Cartoon Digital, FMX, Lynfabrikken, and Vestas Wind Systems.
As an educator, Sunit regularly works with The Animation Workshop, a leading European animation school, where he was integral in developing part of the core curriculum, and where he continues to teach and consult.
Prior to starting his own company, Sunit worked on high-profile projects such as Matrix:Reloaded, Hellboy, and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. He has also directed performance installations and short-films, and is currently wrapping production on his largest film project yet, Machine.
